Working Girl

This week is epic and its only just begun.

I was a production assistant for a company called 15four today and it was an absolutely wonderful experience as I was actually a grip and ac once I arrived on set and started working. The director even came up to me and asked me what I “actually” do on set noticing that being a PA seemed off. The crew was really cool and I am more and more convinced that Baltimore DP’s have to be no taller than like 5’9 dudes and they are all very spritely.

Tomorrow I’m gripping and production assisting for a feature film in Fredrick called Elf-Man. I got the call during my shoot today and found out the details via text. I love how lax this industry is with called for getting work. One text and I’m hired? Best part being that I know 3 people on the call sheet and I know them from other shoots. This is only a big deal to me because it showed me that “hey Jena, you are really starting to do things and make contacts.” The DP on this shoot is an awesome guy so I’m stoked to try and become a camera PA by the end of the day.

Tuesday I’m back assisting on set with 15four to finish up the commercial we shot today and our location is the mayor’s office??

Weds/Thurs- waitressing. Not important.

Friday- I’m camera for an interview with the band Jack’s Mannequin in DC and shooting stills during their performance at night.

Conclusion- I’ve only been out of college for a little over a month. Fuck yes. Determination and passion are everything.

I just have to remember next week when I’m only waitressing (hopefully not) that its fine because there will always be another film job.
